So...what exactly would this parallel study test exactly? That's the problem with intelligent design....no testable hypothesis and therefore it's not science.

Should they be given the option not to learn, or should they just stay in class and educate themselves about the subject just like everyone else anyway so they can at least understand what it is, even if they and their parents don't approve?" Evolution is science, and thus, should be taught in science class. Students who don't accept it should stay in the class and educate themselves. If they don't, they should fail that particular class. Students should not be allowed to pick and choose which parts of a lesson plan they do and don't want to learn about. That's at the teacher's and school board's discretion.
