I am going to be relocating to San Antonio, TX. What zip codes/areas are the nicest and safest? Which one should I stay away from?

There are over 7000 square miles in the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area, and also over 99 zip codes for the city of San Antonio, not including surrounding communities. Given the vast amount of information to be considered it would be hard to answer based on your question. If you would like to check out the crime statistics and other information, you might want to look at www.city-data.com or www.homefair.com relocation resources.

From the stand point of a local, most consider the areas of the Northeast, North Central and Northwest to be the fastest growing and popular. There are some very nice historic districts inside loop 410, and the downtown and Southtown areas have a lot of new condo and apartment development.

There are some nice developments now on the southern areas of town, but much of the Southside is older and the crime statistics are worse.

There is an area near Sea World on the west side where the crime statistics are the best in the city, but also inthe zipcode in which Sea World sits there is a higher than average number of personal crimes (rape, murder, etc)

If you need to consider schools, the two best performing districts in the city are Northeast ISD and Northside ISD.

On a personal note, my preference is the area around 1604 and 281 in North SA. There are a number of excellent restaurants, great shopping, the schools are excellent, and there is the Stone Oak Medical Complex in Development.

Welcome to San Antonio!
