It may take awhile to make up the difference in pay (particularly factoring in the opportunity cost of not working and the huge cost of tuition). However, the main thing to take into account is your happiness. If you are not happy in your current career and you think you would be in a career you can get with an MBA, then do it.

Since you seem like a sharp, and quite quantitative guy, I would recommend taking a look at finanical engineering masters programs (I put a link below, but in case it does not work, just do a websearch for "financial engineering"). I think the pay may be slightly better after finishing these programs, and since you have some quantitative skills, you might be happier in the resulting job. There are links to programs and some of these programs should placement rates and average salaries.

I have known folks who have gone back to school for masters in business and finance, and they are quite happy with the decision.

Good luck!!!

In general, if you can complete the program yes it would be worth it. MBAs are always in demand. As to pay, it depends on where you work when you get out of school. If you are working for a nonprofit, then not as much as you'd get for working for an established for profit company. As for internships, check with the school that you will be attending, they will have that info. And internships are usually for class credit/experience only but sometimes there are paid internships.
