......and be able to see any game from behind the bench, what would that game be, and why?
This probably has been asked before, but I don't care. I'm new, and I have never seen it asked.
Mine would be:
Game 7 of the 1964-65 Stanley Cup, why, because I love the Habs, and my main squeeze had the game winning goal
or
Game 7 of the 1986-87 Stanley Cup, why, because seeing The Great One in action behind the bench on game 7 would just be splendid.

LITY: 1917 game of Shinny with 2x4 sticks, no pads, and a goal with no net. Hmmmmm, to go back that far, you might have to learn to swing dance to bring a date.

Moose, that's no problem, answer any way you like. The 1980 Olympic hockey final would have been a good game.

Game 4 of the 1999-2000 eastern conference semifinals. It's not a Stanley Cup Final, but the game went to FIVE OTS. The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't even beat the Philadelphia Flyers, but it would have been amazing to have been there. The game went to like 2:30am.
OR
Game 6 of the 1990-91 Stanley Cup Finals. For a lot of sentimental reasons. Too many to count!
Great question, Haley! :)

wow i must say that i'm suprised at the number of answers for 94 cup finals game 7... (i mean c'mon theres a lot of rangers haters out there)
i was at game 2 of that series, and yea if i could pick any game i guess i'd have to pick game 7 of the 94 finals...
lets not forget people, game 7 vs. the devils that year, double OT.... i actually did watch that game from behind the bench (or atleast first row just off to the left of the benches) and i'd love to go see it again. without a doubt most memorable sporting event i've ever attended (i was too young to drink)

Two come to mind:
Game 7, 1996 Western Conference Semi-Finals, Red Wings/Blues. To see Yzerman's double-overtime goal from the blue line from that perspective would have been incredible... no wonder Scotty Bowman was in the players' pile after he scored.
Game 7, 1994 Stanley Cup Finals, Rangers/Canucks. If you need an explanation of why, then you don't know anything about professional sports.

Great question! My game would be the clinching game of the 2002 hockey finals in Salt Lake City, where Joe Sakic and Jarome Iginla had the games of their lives (that and the introduction of Iginla as a bonafide NHL star).
Another? The clinching game of the 1987 Canada Cup, where almost 7,000 NHL points were on display when Larry Murphy, Ray Bourque, Dale Hawerchuk, Mario Lemieux, and Wayne Gretzky were on the ice for Team Canada in the greatest goal in Canadian hockey history.

1997 brawl between Detroit and Colorado, assuming the 1980 miracle is off limits as it wasn't NHL. Say what you will on who won (my vote will always be Detroit), it was the physical manifestation of a rivalry. Bad blood across the board, a great game played with such intense emotion on both sides. Though some may call it senseless violence, I think the two cities involved didn't see it as such, but rather saw it as everything sports should be in a way. I get goosebumps thinking of it.

I might be out to lunch with this answer and it is possible some will not even know what I am talking about... but any game from Russia during the '72 series would be awesome.
OR the junior game between Canada vs Russia when they actually shut the lights off to try and stop the bench clearing brawl.
I know you said NHL the 72 series involved NHL guys, and the junior game was filled with future stars!

1995 Cup Finals Game 4 NJ vs. Detroit. I'd want to be behind the bench to see NJ capture its first Stanley Cup... and see Brylin fall trying to jump over the bench when the buzzer sounded!
