I don't think the same parameters were in effect back then. I don't think he was either, I think he was just a meglamaniac, & saw the world as his. The soothsayers said so, right before he put them to death & said he had visions that he was the man to purify the world. Wait, didn't Bush have visions of talking to God...oh dear, what shall we do now????

He was very convincing and appealed to the needs of his country; at the time, he did not need a party, he had the gift of gab and was able to convince persons a particular path in life was the best direction ( only ) for his country--and this lead alot of persons into a fascist state, where individuals, their beliefs became null and void under an emergency state--a requirement for family life, a way to support their family, and the government offered that guidance.

It morphed at one point; from one state of government into fascism.

This is why it is imperative; that all voices are heard.

The right to free speech wards away any form of fascism, or communism, or abuses by government.

Fascism is considered extreme far right, and Communism is considered extreme far left.

In that right, Hitler would would be more akin the the "conservative" end of the spectrum and Stalin more akin to the "liberal" end.... but really.. how far do you have to go before you can't claim it to be the same thing anymore?

He told people what they wanted to hear at the time. He tolerated the old traditions because he could use them to rally the people, he tolerated the church as long is it helped him to solidify his control over the people. In truth there was room for only one religion in his new Germany, and he was to its high priest. He instituted sweeping changes in Germany, which could hardly be seen as the actions of a conservative.
