I think that finger nail biting is a habit done out of uneasiness, nervousness, or unconsciously done when one is bored. I personally have a bad habit of biting my nails. Because this is unconsciously done, i don't realize what I am doing to my perfectly normal hands, until after a while. Then I notice the effect and feel guilty.

Yep, although I'm told it's a nasty habit. Not only does it look disgusting when I do it, leaves a jagged edge to my nails, makes me more prone to hangnails, but I'm exposing myself to germs I may have collected on my fingers all day. Even with all that said, I still bite my fingernails. If I weren't supposed to, then God would have made with a set of clippers (Oh that's right he did...my teeth).

Unfortunately, I also bite my toenails. Now picture that....a fat women, twisted around her feet, biting her nails. It's not pretty, but it's a nervous habit, just like everybody else has. And yes, I now have to constantly be vigil for ingrown toenails. Isn't life great.

Not only bite but I peel it xD.

But after having braces, it feels so weird if I try to bite my finger nails because my teeth would be so sore and I couldn't do it.

Only when i get a splint and i don't have a nail clip nearby. I do it to try to even it out a little so my hair or certain things don't keep getting stuck there.
What i do bite is the dry skin around them... it's gross really, but i do it!

I used 2 big time, but then kicked the habit as I got older and wanted to grow my nails and have them look nice. I still occasionally when m nervous, but i have got to stop that because nails carry lots of germs.

I used to, then I suddenly stopped about a year ago and only noticed when I found scratch marks all over my face! Now I have started biting them again recently, I guess I'm stressed out or something!
