yes, many 'people of color" are not African at all. There are also many African-Americans that are caucasian. The best advice is to see people as people and not as a certain creed or color.

I wouldn't call someone who wasn't from an African heritage African. Then again. Blacks in America or anywhere else other then Africa, would not be African anything because they were not born in Africa. The correct term is black-American

I agree but what is the solution as supposedly we can't call a dark skinned person black without being labeled as racists.

Yeah, and a lot of the black people I know will tell you very quickly that they have never been to Africa. I don't hear that phrase used very much anymore.
