Not very long, if you have all the right equipment.
Usually, the hardest part is getting to the head gasket...Often, there are other parts in the way, such as the spark plugs & wires,
Actually installing the new head gasket is really as simple as removing the gasket cover, cleaning the old gasket off, then putting the new gasket in place and screwing the gasket cover back on.
I highly recommend that you either buy the Chilton's repair manual, or at least read up on it at the library, so you can understand what's needed for your specific model.

By the book 5.5-6 hours.But you have to resurface head before you put it on.Would be wise to replace timing belt same time.Need more time for all that.In garage environment it takes few days.
