I would actually look more into SERENA if you are naming a mermaid godess... It reminds me of the word, "Siren," which was used as a name for one of the guardian fighters in final Fantasy 8, incidentally a mermaid. :-)


Also, in my native country, the Philipphines, our word for memaid is "Sirena..."

so it might ring up a familiarity which could be very effective for your purpose...
