i just have some questions.
at night does the fish actually go to sleap like we humans do. like do they close there eyes and go tot he bottom of the tank?

what kind of food should i feed it?how many times a day?
how long will it live?
how big should the bowl be?
how many days should i change the water?

lol thats all the questions.

First of all, DON'T buy just a bowl BUT at least a 2.5 gallon tank with filter and a heater needs to be purchased separately

They are very easy to take care of actually

Get your tank ready before actually purchasing the betta
the water needs to be conditioned

You should feed him twice a day with either pellets, flakes or frozen bloodworms

Do a 25% partial waterchange weekly with a small gravel siphon

with proper care and habitat, he can live up to 7 years

here is also an article for you to read up on

hope that helps
Good luck

Bettas are easy fish to care for and dont need alot of space. A small bowl or a small 2 gallon aquarium will do just fine. They have a special organ where they breath in air like humans and force it thru some organ to breathe. its quiet neat. Anyways you can feed him once or twice a day only and that should be enough. Change the water once a month by emptying half the water in the bowl and filling it up with conditioned water.

hi ok firstly,YEs fish sleep(all).THey kinda hang suspended as they need to breath.
Feed them a mixture of dried prepared food&live food(mine love worms&b/shrimp)BUT!these foods are treats, not to be given daily as worms especially produce an overload of protein in the fish, which in turn will lead to swim bladder problems(which is irriversable)So sub.this with dry food.
Fighters need live food to promote the snaping action of their jaws(which in turn helps with the lungs)so whenever poss.give them live food(hatchb/shrimp-but remember to wash salt off,b4 feeding to freshwater fish)
Because of the cramped conditions they usually live in,bettas are prone to becoming lazy, thus they have obesity&swim bladder probs. Thus they will die. This is why live food is so important it provids them with a little exercise,in turn,a longer life.
They have a maximum life span of 2yrs,of course there are reports of some older ones.(eg.1breeder has 1 that he says lived4,9yrs)So be aware, when you buy 1,it is probably @least1yr,old.
The size of bowl is up to you,the smaller(jar)the more frequent the water change should be(coffee jar/1x wk)
Have fun..Just keep in mind that they do like company(see others to flare up@)this helps promote a fit&happy fighter.LOOK4sighns of his happiness..(bubble nest)
