Tough. I will give you Berkeley answer.
Consistency. In a ilusion, you feel that the things behave in a crazy way. Stones talks; your mother fly, and you open a door and... other planet comes around. In realitiy, that common ilusion, you find consistency. A door, a room; your mother, she walks; the stones, just stones. Consistency...
But it could be one ilusion that is consistent.. Thats what you call realitiy

Very, very seldom do we see illusions (other than a Penn and Teller show). If we saw illusions all the time we wouldn't be able to function. The world would be chaos. But it isn't chaos. We all function just fine.
So, what about the very few illusions that do occur? They do not change reality, our senses are simply tricked by something - like an optical illusion.

Brahma Satyam Jagan Asat. Everything is illusion as nothing is real except Atman. You can not see Atman.
But English translations are not necessarily correct. Asat is not fake, it is unreal.

Its not so much that you cannot "see" what is real, as it is, You cannot see what is real because of "What you "think" you are seeing". What you see and what you "think" you see, can be totally opposite. What you "think" you see is an illusion of what you are seeing! Peace...

It is possible that what is illusionary for one may be real in the case of another person. So it is the personal judgement that gives the conviction of whether a thing is real or unreal.

You can't. This is a fundamental question of philosophy.
Plato describes it in the Allegory of the cave in ancient times.
More recently, the paradox can be seen expressed in the Matrix movies.
