Hrm.
I suck at science.
But I did an awesome experiment to create a vacuum in grade 7. You take an hard-boiled egg and a glass bottle (the mouth has to be small enough that the egg won't fall throug). Then you light a match, drop it in the bottle and cover the mouth with the egg. When the fire uses all the oxygen in the bottle it will create suction, pulling the egg down into the bottle.
I remember thinking It was so cool.

you could do a study about velocity by chucking things in the air that weigh differnt things (ie a potatoe, a ping pong ball, and a shot put)
