Well ... I know an actual Edie, so that colors things. She's pretty cool, though. In her 50s, wears little square glasses, sensible-but-interesting shoes and lots of artisanal scarves.
She's the one who's also reading something interesting, who's been to whatever quirky place you can dream up and has been around long enough to put *anything* in perspective.
I believe my Edie is actually named Edith. I like Edie quite a bit, but would perhaps use Eden, Eddalyn, Edris or Edelie as the formal name instead.

Edie...I think of Edie Britt from Desperate Housewives now. Prior to that show, I only knew one Edie. She was a sweet older lady. They couldn't be more different from each other but those are the two examples I have.

Depends. I'm familiar with the nickname Edie (with both the EE-dee and ED-ee pronunciations, usually depending on the formal given name), but "Eydie" throws me. Would this one be IE-dee ... like the word "eye" plus the letter D? Or like a cockney Heidi, in other words. LOL
Sticking with familiar Edie, I picture a very sweet girl -- possible a little "Edith," which is such a great, underused classic -- with light brown pigtails and just a sprinkling of freckles. Adorable and feminine, but equally comfortable climbing trees and skipping stones. Basically a spunky little beauty. ;)
On a grown woman, my opinion would be similar. Sweet and attractive, but equally comfortable with the guys or her girlfriends. ;) Just an all-around pleasant image.

Petite, happy, smiling...well dressed, put together kind of girl. I prefer the spelling "Edie". Kind of a preppy, cheerleader type (in a postive way).

A smart, cute girl, with lots of "pep". I only like it spelled as "Edie" though.
