I am from NC, and currently live in AL. It's a Coke in both places. I think it's mostly a Southern thing to call it a Coke, but I could be wrong.

It's Coke. All of it. All soft drinks: Dr Pepper, Mountain Dew, Sprite. It's all "Coke."
I'm from North Carolina, and now I live in South Carolina. It's still the same, 'cause it's a southern thing.
