I don't pronounce it that way, but everyone hears and sees words differently. My husband says I have a funny way of pronouncing motel and hotel, I guess I say MOWEtel and Hoetel or something like that but I never knew I said it weird til he pointed it out.

I say puh-khan, emphasis on the "puh!" Southern folks do not say PEE-can.
