No, I think when one proposes, it should reflect the most romantic time for it will be remembered for a lifetime.

Corny and old-fashioned is good.
However, I don't think it has to be a certain way. It can be individualized. However, too weird doesn't work either- the woman might feel uncomfortable.
A nice setting is helpful- pretty scenery. The right tone is important also- not too flippant- you don't appear to be serious about it. But, overly intense could scare the woman also. Normal tone is ok.
I don't like the public proposals- it should be a private thing. Not on the scoreboard at half-time.
Why did you ask this to guys only? I think women have opinions about this also.

Absolutely not! There is something about time honored traditions that make them invaluable. Remember that all women always want the "fairy tale". Seriously, women love the fairy tale. Make it a special occasion for you guys, and pop the question on one knee. Be serious, and more importantly be genuine. Dont be afraid to be nervous.

neither, I believe it shows the woman that the man means business and is being the most vulnerable he can be, honest, sincere and respectful; an act that changes the whole life of both, either for better or worse, I did it and was rained on with tears of joy from my wife.
