How long did you wait after having your baby to have sex again?

I waited 2 weeks even though they say 6. It is really up to you and how you are feeling down there. I had quite a few stitches from an episiotomy which I tend to heal pretty fast (this is my third child), however, my baby is 4 weeks and I had one sluggish stitch that did not want to dissolve, and I think it could be because I have not waited the full 6 and to get the doc's ok, but I feel fine, so I would say you REALLY should wait the 6 weeks, but you know your body better than anyone else so go with your instincts!

It was really hard, but we waited 4 1/2 weeks. It felt like forever, but it was worth it. Your body will let you know when you're ready to start having sex again.
The doctors say 6-8 weeks because that's how long is takes your cervix to close again. They don't want you to get an infection that's all.

I was told to wait a month. We waited 3 weeks and 1 day. ;) But I only did it because I felt ok. I gave birth vaginally, and tore a little, but they did the disolvable stitches and I only felt a little soreness "down there". I left the hospital 3 days later (because of high blood pressure) and didn't have any pain, so I was fortunate enough to recover quickly. It depends on your body. Go slow. You can stop if it's uncomfortable. And be safe! You can get pregnant again right away! ;) Good luck.

I guess I waited the longest of this bunch... a little over two months. But I had to have a d&c shortly after having my son, so the doctor made me wait for 6 weeks after that. Hubby was not happy!

We waited 5 1/2 weeks you are supposed to wait 6. Just do what your doctor tells you and what your body tells you and you will be OK

It's supposed to be 6 weeks although I have been wanting to have sex since I had my son (which was 4 weeks ago). I still have these damn 2 stitches though..so it looks like I will have to wait 6 weeks..lol.

Like everyone says u have to wait 6 wks. But I only made it to 4 wks, no wonder why I have 3 under 3!
