Of course they should be executed. But it has taken so long to prosecute these people that the whole process is a mockery. A bullet in the head is better than what these people did to the people of Phnom Penh in the 1970s. It is ludicrous to suggest that anyone is responsible other than those who did it. If we are to trace responsibility back to ultimate causes, the leaders of the Cambodian Communists - Khmer Rouge - were educated in Paris by the Left - so Jean Paul Sartre.

You've probably heard this line dozens of times from old Western movies: "Killing's too good for him".
Well, actually that makes sense.
This guy's old, and death might actually be a welcome relief for him. As a rabid anti-Communist myself, it may surprise (and even sicken) you that I have a small amount of pity for this guy. He grew up in a part of the world where the vast majority wouldn't have reaped much benefit from democracy. The same problem is being experienced in places like Peru and Bolivia where the indigenous population shares practically nothing as the country itself grows richer.
He saw a choice, and decided that his people had nothing to lose from going the Communist route. He was completely, utterly, and tragically mistaken.
A more fitting punishment would be this: every day for the rest of his life, he must watch movies about the atrocities of Communism. He must watch documentaries detailing how other countries which embraced Capitalism now enjoy a prosperity the people of his generation could never have dreamed of.
He should have to write letters to magazines and newspapers, asking them to warn future generations about the false illusions of Communsm. Since his punishment is having to face up to the truth, and the unspeakable atrocities for which he is responsible would probably encourage him to commit suicide, another win-win situation could be allowed: he could be allowed out of his cell and on to college campuses to dispell the Socialist-Communist notions of dumb-as-a-rock college kids, too many of whom seem to embrace the Left like a savior.
Imagine some smug, pampered college kid who has a foto of Che Guevarra or Hugo Chavez on his wall, and he considers himself some ultra cool rebel. Now imagine his crestfallen expression as a Communist legend shatters his little dream world existence, and demystifies all the phony promises of Communism.
Heck, I'd pay money to see that!

a number of your respondents have reported the Khmer Rouge Cambodian leaders were no longer practising Communism. it extremely is blatantly pretend. They tried (and failed miserably) to create an AGRARIAN Communist utopia. It changed into well-known Communist stupidity, thoroughly brushing off actuality. those fool Communists emptied the cities and took those human beings to artwork interior the fields. that would want to be like taking an Alaskan Huskie and prepared for him to stay in Saudi Arabia. extremely stupid. 2d factor: stupidity of this importance must be against the law. actual the outcomes were criminal, and that is the gentlest note for it. the outcomes were barbaric, cruel torture, and genocide, yet i wager the Commie apologists in basic terms favor to ignore those minor, inconvenient truths. What must be the punishment? they ought to have their heads shaved, be wearing infant diapers, and paraded around the country in a painted circus wagon so as that all and assorted can see the dumbest animal in the international: the agrarian Commie. the in difficulty-free words food those idiots ought to get carry of is the rotten fruit and eggs that individuals throw at them. they must be pleased about it. They gave their sufferers some distance a lot less. Communism = complete slavery. Slavery is against the law antagonistic to humanity. sufficient reported.

Buy time on the local TV stations, sell tickets at a large stadium. Invite the public, sell beer, and snacks, some memorabilia, and some programs, than trot out these animals and execute them

The communist believers are not the only ones to have commited crimes against humanity, how about Bush's war in Iraq, when Iraq did nothing to harm this country, and to really get to the crimes against humanity, just look at Israel, one of the most aggressive nations on earth.
They saw the need to hang Saddam for his killing of innocent Iraqi's, yet George Bush is responsible for the deaths of more of the innocent Iraqi citizens than Saddam ever thought of, so are we to hang him also, seems reasonable.

simply being a communist is and should be protected as an expression of free speech. murderous dictators of any political ideology (like Pol Pot) should be tried for war crimes in an international court.

His crime wasn't being a communist.
His crime was committing atrocities against human beings.
not that I am defending communism, but please learn the difference.
I bet you are also the kind who claims that murder in the name of politicial ideology is for the greater good huh?
