I was relieved that you further explained, "I am by no means saying that there aren't people that don't discriminate becasue of the color of your skin..." Up until that point, I was thinking, "Is he really this naive?" (Sorry ☺)
Yes, I agree with you. You are much more enlightened than many people who I've spoken with who don't understand that racism is one of MANY prejudices. Racism is race based prejudice and is only one of numerous prejudices that plagues this world. People form prejudices for more reasons than can be discussed in this limited forum. And, often times, those prejudices are mistaken for racism when, in fact, they are nothing remotely close.
Astute awareness, my friend.
Thanks for your question. ☺

Stereotypes are confused with racism, which is confused with being prejudice especially on this site. These three can be associated to one another, but each is totally different. In many cases it not what you ask a person of another, race, color, gender, religion, or affiliation, but more like how you ask.
How many times have you seen a question go: why do all blacks... or how come every white person.... See the power of small works such as "all" and "every"? Look how people assume!
No secret, we are all racist, prejudice, and stereotype something or someone. I do believe most of us have common sense enough to keep them to ourselves. At least I do and I am a brutally honest person, but my bank account and how much goes into it every month is more important to me then how I feel about so and so that I work for and those that work for me.

I kind of agree. At least, I understand what your saying. But i still feel that judging a whole race/ethnicity on a few that you've been around by just how they act/their view on life is just stereotyping them all. Every person has a different way of living and seeing life. But now the part i agree on, yes people should be able to critisize views without being called racist, because then your just being stereotypical. Neither is a good thing to do in my opinion. Judge the person by who they are, not their ethnicity in any way. At least that's what i try and do. Cuz I know I'd want others to do the same for me. ^_^

First, you cannot judge an entire race on a few people's actions or behaviors. That is the definition of racism.
I agree that certain people's attitudes, behaviors, and actions lead others to dislike them or to look down on them, but I also believe that people who typically do this will already have a negative view of that race prior to their dislike of any one action/behavior. I don't like it that black people seem to be taking marriage and parenting less seriously than I would hope they would.....but it would be a bit racist of me to not recognize that this is happening just as frequently in the white community as well. I think people do not recognize the failures around them, b/c it is easier to look at someone else's life and find faults. If you have few or no friends/family of the opposite race, it is difficult for you to feel a bond with them and far easier to see the faults in their choices. That being said, I live in the DEEP south, and racism is still a big problem here!! Not a difference of opinion, but actual, legitimate racism!!

**** no, I don't agree.
Let's take a racist group like the KKK. They don't like black people. They don't like black people from America, from countries in Africa, from Europe and perhaps even people from Asia who look black.
Generally speaking, those black people have different cultures and each one probably has a different attitude about life. People are racist because they don't look at the individual, they look at the race as a whole and generalize. If you discriminate against another ethnic group because you generalize, it's essentially racism.
People shouldn't judge others. When we do that, we start to think that we're better or more deserving than others and that leads to racism.

NO!!!I don't think people should critisize ANYTHING unless they know it very VERY well. How could I possibly say a word about "other peoples attitudes and their view on life" when I know $hit about all the people I never met?Who gives ME,you or him/her the right to critisize wievs we don't fully know? It's like "have you ever been in the place you're talking about? For less than 6 months?Shut up then!".Personally,I feel like my own identity is taken away if you evaluate me by the place I come from. What you're talking about might not be called racism but it's definitely wrong, stupid and ugly thing to do.

when u classify each person that is a certain race the same because of one person or what u think you know about a group, that is racist. If don't even take the time to meet a certain person because of the color of their skin, that is racist. Take the time to meet each individual then judge if you like them or not. most people wont even do that first step. wi knew my grandma was racist and she tried to get me to feel the same, then my sister had an african american's baby and I love her to death. I don't see her as a color, i get weird looks when i carry her around and people assume I adopted her or my sister adopted her. I feel bad for her because when she gets into school she will be judged. Sad wish that people could take the time to get to know people before judging them

To a point, yes. I concidder myself an "additudeist".
I am not against any race/color/religion/sex/etc., I give everyone (as an individual) a chance. If they blow that chance, that is because of thier attitude and behavior. I have friends of all races, but I also dislike people of all races. It is all in the person.

In a way, you are right. The differences between races are usually cultural, and instead of understanding those differences, we tend to plant our fears in how they "look different" on the surface (ie: skin color). It makes it easier for us to identify a group by sight, so we can more easily dehumanize and therefore, hate the other race.
In societies where there are ethnic groups who look a lot a like, they start basing their hate on what religious garb they wear...another way to notice a different group by sight, and justify hating them and dehumanizing. Ultimately, dehumanizing a group is done to justify hurting them or murdering them.

Yeh i do agree with you but when people disagree its fine and it shouldn't be classed as rasicm. But when they are insulting against another culture or relgion then that is obviously rasicm. To be honest now-adays everything anyone does it rasict.
One thing i don't understand how someone can be rasict towards someones skin color. why??
Anyway cool question :)
