How many times have you been told money can’t buy happiness?
It’s time to abandon this old chestnut because money is a powerful tool, which can in fact buy you all of the things you never thought it could: peace of mind, a healthier lifestyle, more time to do the things you love, stronger relationships, security, and loads of fun.
In a world where we’re bombarded with the temptations of conspicuous consumption, personal finance columnist MP Dunleavey presents an antidote to empty spending. Through quizzes, worksheets, real life examples, and sound financial advice, MP shows you how to stop throwing your money away on fleeting pleasures like the hot new designer handbag, or the biggest house on the block, and start investing in your own portfolio of happiness.
Reallocating your assets to reflect what really satisfies you is the way to enjoy a life of true wealth. Money Can Buy Happiness is for anyone who believes finishing happy is more important than finishing rich.

I definitely think that peace of mind is more important than money. I would also propose that those with peace of mind have the ability to make more money, because they are in touch with their passion. How you feel is always more important than what you can spend.

well i would love to say peace of mind.... but 2day.... it would have to be money. You need money to do everything 2 day and if you don't have any you will never have peace of mind b.c you will be thinking about how you can get some money for the things you need

Look up Malow's heirarchy of human needs. It seems to capture something important about what is necessary for happiness and contentment. In short, it basically shows that humans need to have their basic requirements for food and shelter and clothing met, but then to be happiest, they also need to belong to a group, and to be able to experience what is called self actualization. That is about working toward a higher purpose, or exploring one's artistic side, or some other effort that is more than just accumulating wealth and comfort.
Economists have shown through analysis of data that people have varying degrees of demand for creature comforts. Called the elasticity of demand, it means that after a certain amount of consumption, people value money less, and free time more.
If we combine the two ideas, you could conclude that in order to have peace of mind, you need enough money, or goods and services, to feel secure in your person and to be healthy. After that, you begin to desire things that money alone cannot buy. Love, friendship, self respect and the respect of others etc.
The highest level of Maslow's heirarchy of human needs probably brings one piece of mind as well, and while money can enable you to spend the time to pursue those interests, money alone will not allow one to achieve that level.
Many people are very happy with a lot less money than many miserable people have. Sometimes people with a lot of money lose their way, become focused on consumption and competition, instead of finding their way to self actualization.
It is great that you are asking this question, as it shows you have insight into the difference.
I also recommend reading the historical accounts of the Buddha, what he taught. Not the religion, as the Buddha himself would not have wanted a religion in his name, but his thoughts on the middle way and the path to enlightenment.
Good luck!

Money to pay the bills will give me peace of mind. No matter how you put it, it will still cost money to have the basics in life like being warm, eating, drinking, etc.

Money is most important to life. Without money you cannot live even a normal life. Without money you will not find peace in this world. An ancient poet says "NO this world to those who don't have money; NO that world (heaven) to those who don't have kindness and love."

Peace of mind. You can make money by hook or crook but peace of mind only comes to those people who are lucky.
