If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will own guns!
Have you seen the movie Red Dawn? The invaders know which citizens can defend themselves and are neutralized first.
As for the licenses, It didn't work well in Germany in the 40s, did it?
Anything that infringes gun ownership is a violation of our constitutional rights. Look at all the countries around the world that have succumb to gun control and how many have been sucked into violence.
My last abbreviated point is that if guns and ammunition become restricted, people will purchase firearms illegally. That only hurts the citizen who is trying to do the right thing

On the side of change you can argue this: The population of several European nations (Britain, Germany France and one or two others) along with Australia will get you roughly a population the size of the United States. Of all those nations combined, the United States has many thousands more gun deaths per year. The United States does not have a great deal of gun control and those countries do.
On the side of keeping it, it is constitutionally mandated for citizens to have the right to bear arms. Current laws also prevent people known to be a danger from legally purchasing weapons. A great deal of crimes are committed with weapons that are not purchased through legal channels.

No one can regulate gun sales on the street. I own 25 or more guns and only one of them is registered to me, the rest were bought from friends and other people I trust like police officers. You do have to have a license to carry a gun concealed but only law abiding citizens will get those. Thugs and criminals don't want to be on the grid so they would NEVER do anything like that. It is because of those kind of people that I own so many guns and I also carry guns.

the purpose of the 2nd amendment wasn't about dear hunting, or defending your house if a criminal attacked, watch braveheart for a good and entertaining lesson on why our founding fathers set the bill of rights as they did, in the movie the king of England was am evil tyrant guilty of many unspeakable acts, but kings aren't elected, the only way to remove a king is to rise up against them so the king bans all weapons from the Scottish lands, they only know how to throw rocks, so when the Scottish farmers do rise up and challenge the king the have no experience or training with a sward or a bow and arrow,
this is why we have a right to bare arms,
the reason for gun control is because of gun related crime
but gun control laws only work for people who obey the laws, you can outright ban guns in America (just like drugs) and people that want a gun will still get the gun (just like drugs) all gun control laws do are hinder the average citizen from defending himself against a criminal

If there was any chance of the law having any effect on crime, yes. But there isn't, so why bother.
Instead, how about making firearm training MANDATORY for kids in school so they at least know how to handle a firearm in a safe manner? Maybe then stupid gang members will learn how to aim and quit killing innocent bystanders.

Keep them the same... There is no way of getting a gun out of the hands of someone who is willing to use it in a crime.
Think about it really. If someone is crazy enough to murder someone they are definitely crazy enough to know how to do it.
