You can't. You and your current wife will just have to get over it. It's her legal name, and there's nothing you can do to make her change it.

Oh Lord. Some people are so sad with jealousy. Why would she care if your ex has your last name? She did marry you. Hell they both did and both are entitled the name. You cannot make her change it but why would you want to? Makes no sense to me. If it truly is your current wife's insecurities that keeps her upset about an ex's name then she has issues she needs to get over and try to focus on more important things like whats for dinner. If you talk to your ex about it she might find it humorous that your wife is jealous and keep the name even longer. Let it go its no big deal. I have my ex husbands last name. I have thought about changing it but do you know the process you have to go through to get it changed and then alert everyone. It isn't worth it to me and probably isn't a big deal to your ex either. Let it go its best.

well honey, you should have asked her to drop it while in the divorcing process.
secondly, are you sure this is an issue for you, or is it really just an issue for your current wife? if it's more her issue then tell her to grow up and deal with it. your ex has every legal right to have your last name as your current wife does. accept it and drop it.

No, it is legally hers. Unless it was specified in the Divorce Decree that she would change her last name there is nothing you can do about it. Even if it was specified in the Decree, you would have to check with your lawyer to see if you could file contempt charges this late.
I have the same problem. My husband's ex and I are both
A. Wesley, but I'm the only Mrs. A. Wesley- haha! It gets frustrating, but mostly for her because she's the one who usually gets called by my name!

No you can't. Did you have kids with her and that is why she keeps the name? My stepdads ex-wife keeps his last name even though it has been over 30 years since they were together. It does not bother my mom. Your wife needs to let it go, she is being petty. Your ex has the same last name, she does not have you.

There is nothing you can do but talk to the ex. Who is upset you or your current wife? Lots of women will continue keeping their ex's last name especially if children are involved. It makes it so much easier. I remarried and took my husbands name but when I go to my son's school they call me Mrs Brown because of my son's last name. It gets awkward at times

No, unless it was in the divorce papers that her name needed to be changed back. Then you might be able to sue. Talk to a lawyer after reviewing your papers.

No, she doesn't have to change it. It is her LEGAL name. Tell your wife to quit being a baby and to get over herself.
