It was way back in like 3rd or 4th grade. I was waiting in line to use the water fountain, and the kids in front of me were loud and obnoxious, and we were right next to a classroom (not our own). So my teacher made me apologize for their stupidity.

Hm, isn't it funny what we remember?

Yeah, a couple times. I don't know about where you are from, but where I am, "oops, sorry" is more commonly said then "hello". Someone cuts you off - "oops, sorry", someone is standing in front of your locker, they move and - "oops, sorry", or for just about anything that is the slightest bit inconvenient.

Yes, but only rarely as a way to keep the peace or get someone else to feel better or just to shut up someone.
