Both my husband and mom are at work during the day, and I believe I started pre labor in the passed few days. But, I am scared it could be false labor. Unless I am in sever pain I don't wanna call either one to take me to the hospital because they both have good jobs but don't need to miss. But, I feel like maybe if the pains got worse than the twings are now I may need to go to the hospital.... The hospital is almost 45 mintues away ( the one I am going to, their is a closer on about 10 mintues away ) But, would it be unsafe to drive myself???

Many of the moms that show up in our local hospital drive as much as 2 hours themselves! That is the reality of rural living. If your contractions aren't less than 10 minutes apart, you certainly can drive yourself. Take a cell phone. If it becomes a problem, you can call 911. I would still recommend though, that you call a neighbor to take you instead.

If the pain is intense or unbearable....then yeah it would be unsafe. Even if it isn't now...it could become worse while you're in the car...some women throw up while in labor....you need to be able to concentrate on either driving OR the pain....most women can't do both and accidents can happen.
I drove myself to the hospital while in labor with my first....BUT I had already been having contractions due to pre-term labor so I KNEW that I could handle it and it was only 5 minutes down the road.
I would simply wait to see if the pain gets worse. If you feel the need to go to the hospital then you need to call your hubby anyways. I know that my husband would kill me if I drove myself to the hospital....that was always the "fun" part for him...the rushing around thinking 'the baby's coming...the baby's coming" I would never take that away from him. And I doubt that your husband would be mad if it wasn't true labor...you wouldn't be the first woman to get sent home.
If you're concerned about false labor...remember this....in false labor the contractions aren't regular, they will lose intensity if you lay down or drink water....and they are usually tolerable pain wise.

Do NOT drive yourself if you think you are in labor! The labor pains WILL distract you from driving safely, so please don't do that! You need to have another family member or even a neighbor in line to drive you if need be. Don't be afraid to ask for help! Safety first!! This is your baby and you we are talking about, and that is the most important thing. Also, to help tell the difference between false and actual labor: if you change positions, walk around, eat or drink something, etc and the pains stop, then it is not real labor. So when you start to get those pains, get up and move around, etc, to help tell the difference. But actual labor will not just stop, so if they continue, the start to time how far apart the contractions are. When they get to 5 minutes apart, then head to the hospital.

If you aren't sure about if its pre-labor or false labor try calling you doctor first, they can give you a little insight on what is going on and even save you a trip to the hospital! Otherwise if you still feel that you need to go to the hospital call a friend, or do you have a neighbor thats at home during the day? If all else fails call your husband! It's better to be safer then sorry. Good Luck!

You need to stop worrying about your husband's job. If and when your in labor you call him and he will leave to take you, how do you think he would feel if you tried driving yourself and something happened? He's just a responsible for the safe birth of this baby as you are? I don't quite understand the hospital situation though why are you going to one so far away is there something wrong with the one that's close to your home?

I wouldn't chance driving yourself. You could always start to progress fast, a lot can happen in 45 minutes and if contractions get bad enough you could be distracted from the road. Not a good thing obviously.
what about considering going once husband or mother are out of work if you're just dealing with twinges now?
Good luck!!

Okay, You can not drive yourself to the hospital. Call your parents let them know that you're not feeling very well, I'm quite sure they wouldn't mind driving you to the hospital. You are gonna give labor any day now, they will miss work regardless.
Do not waist your time worrying about the minor things because your health is more important.
If you're in pain enough to ask about it, then you should call someone ASAP. It's unsafe to drive yourself, its also unsafe to sit around having pains, because you don't know what the cause if the pains might be.
I wish you love, and luck, and easy child birht NOW GO AND CALL SOMEONE!
p.s.
Congratulations on mommyhood!!!!!!!!

If he hasn't already, make sure your husband tells his employer that you're getting close to your due date and he may need to leave on short notice. I know I'd definitely want my husband to be there!
But if he just simply cannot get off work, keep someone available to drive you. Say, if your hubby works 9-5, but your girlfriend works 3-12, make sure you have someone who can take you. I wouldn't want you to risk your water breaking as you're braking at the stoplight!

It's probably NOT the best idea to drive yourself to the hospital if it's 45 min away.... If you can have your husband come home and drive together.... It's better to be safe than sorry.... If you are really worried then drive to the close hospital or have someone drive you to the close hospital.. If it's nothing it's ok.... good luck
