When the Telephone was first invented.....What was the purpose of the 1st person who bought it? I mean they had no one to talk to at the time of the purchase... and how would they know that another person would get one that they even knew?

I can picture them saying "Is it plugged in now? Can we start? Somebody call that guy on the phone so we can get this program started!" and then they would say "So, what kind of TV were you interested in watching?"
