Why do mexican americans think all white people are British,& all Asians are Chinese??

They call white people anglos,wich are people of british descent,Most white people are not british,Many Italians,Greeks,Lebanese,Turkish are darker & browner than alot of mexicans.All asians are "Orientals" to them.wich is wrong as well,I'm Asian & not oriental.then they get mad if you call them "Spanish people" or "Puerto Ricans" by mistake.why do they think all white people are from the british Isles??Greek people are Hellenic,Sweedish people are Scandavian,Italians, Russian,Jewish people are also different.Just like us Asians.Why do they think that???

Well, most white people in America speak English. Though, of course, most Mexican's speak Spanish, so how confusing can it be?

The labels really do get pretty silly. Indians and Chinese are both 'Asians,' but Indians are caucasian. A Mexican of african descent, an Argentinian of italian descent, and a Peruvian of Japanese descent are all 'Hispanic' as soon as they set foot in America.

I`ve no idea why the think that or why they must think all British are white ,Or why they think we`re Anglos .The Anglo`s were in England about a 1,000 years ago before the saxons and the Normans (may be they think white Americans are really OLD)

Because they are not thinking. The same as whites in California thinking that all Hispanics are Mexicans.
It's easier to generalize than to take the time to consider the other possibilities.
