Not until either
a) a formal decision of Nolle Prosequi is entered in court, or
b) the Statute of Limitations expires.

Even if the DA tells you he's dropping the charges, if he gets more information before the SoL expires he can change his mind.

Only when the charges are officially dropped. Things change in a hurry and until dropped, anything can happen. This does not mean that the charges will not be presented again later. The prosecutor may feel that there is not currently enough evidence to go to court.

I wouldn't assume anything. Call and ask.

Most prosecutors are buried in court cases and it may take several months or even a year for your case to be reviewed.
