Different, atleast no one else will have the name.
It is your decision.

I know someone named Liberty...I think it's a nice name, however it is more of a middle name. It takes a strong person to own up to a name like Liberty...

I don't like it, its too "redneck" for me. And even though it way seem like a cute name now try to imagine how weird it seem in the future "Come on Liberty time for breakfast" or "This is my daughter Liberty", it just seems awkward. But if you like Libby I highly recommend the name Elizabeth Ruby with Libby as a nn.

I don't like it. It sounds kind of trashy to me, like Destiny or Trinity. It might be fine as a middle name, but I really dislike it as a first name.
For a patriotic name, how about:
Elizabeth (nn Betsy for Betsy Ross, this one can also have the nickname Libby, as in Liberty)
Martha (for Martha Washington)
Sandra (for the first female Justice in the Supreme Court)
Abigail (for Abigail Adams, wife to one president, and mother to another)
Erica (as in amERICA)

I think it sounds like a cool name. I've seen the name in a baby name book but I've never known of anyone with that name.

Liberty was the name of a character in Degrassi. I personally don't like it overly much. But if you like it go for it!!
