Sadly, I believe there are many who don't look into the issues, and do vote blindly, following what their favorite entertainers recommendation.
I personally look at them for what they are worth, and that is to entertain. I do boycott a few for their radical opinions and actions, such as, Sean Penn, "Hanoi" Jane Fonda, and other crazies.
The research into the candidates past and present views, their affiliations, experience and many other factors determine my vote. Not Hollywood!

I think that just as the idiot celebrity has the right of free speech--I have the right to boycott buying anything that helps them financially. As for swaying the voters, most people are not swayed by the Whos Who list of celebrities on issues or candidates. I think the average US voter is more swayed into voting by the person running or by the issues themselves. To say otherwise woould be claiming we are all to blind or dumbto actually think about an issue or candidate.

VERY LITTLE. Just because they can act does not mean they can think critically, or that they are knowledgeable or educated about the realities of the political issues they speak about.
Many of these entertainers never even finished high school and few are college graduates. What makes them experts on foreign or domestic policy? Just because they are famous does not mean they are intelligent.
And I consider anyone an irresponsible voter who has not done their own research on the candidates from a variety of sources to avoid bias.

Personally, none at all. And any one who votes based on what Sean Penn, Paris Hilton or any other useless waste of skin thinks is a moron.
Actors act.
Singers sing.
Performers perform.
If I wanted a political opinion I could watch any number of news programs or read any number of books and newspapers.
I go to movies and concerts to be entertained not to be preached to be some one who happens to have my attention only because they have the $30 bucks I shelled out to see them perform.

Of course it would be irresponsible.
Americans put too much stock into entertainers, in general. Look at what they're paid just to entertain. Come on. Outside of the lines they are paid to speak, personally I have little interest in what they have to say. They can go to the voting booth the same as anyone else. Otherwise their words have carry no more weight to me than yours.

Too much, this is proved by declining numbers of people getting real news, but the huge increase in popularity of celeb mags, shows, and websites. If people only knew that celeb views are given to them by publicist and are based on what will help there public image. It's sad and not many seem to care.

it depends on the entertainer... some are very intelligent people... some are just good for entertainment... after all Reagan was an Actor... and Arnold is an actor ... and I would bet you place some stock in what they have to say since you are a Republican I believe.
But no, I don't vote for a candidate based on what they have to say.. but if they are intelligent I do consider their position.

Probably more than I care to believe. For me I think entertainers are extremely over rated. I enjoy a few of them. They however are not the be all, end all focus of my life.
More than this how many follow what the mega preachers say. That is even more frightening.

I am a firm believer that entertainers should keep their mouths shut when it comes to politics... unless they plan to enter the political arena.
I mean... they can run their mouths if they want... it's a free country... but it can be most detrimental to their career if they do so.
If I were an actor, I'd reply "no comment" whenever anyone asked me for political viewpoints because I'd want them to like me or dislike me for my acting, not for my ideologies.

Too much.
I think celebrities get popular for all the wrong reasons. Why are we worshipping Paris Hilton instead of Margaret Albright? Because in the U.S., all you have to be is tall, skinny, blonde, and RICH. You don't have to be smart.
