Don't cook it in the turkey. If you want to stuff you're bird, do it after it's been cooked. This will avoid any potential bacteria from forming in the stuffing. Bake you're bird, cook the stuffing, then add the stuffing to the bird and stick it in the oven for a few minutes to make it look like it was cooked with the bird.

no, it doesn't need to be cooked on the stove..just go ahead and stuff the bird and bake them both in the oven..I have found that since they came out with those oven bags..it is so much easier, less baking time and Way Less Messy too..good luck with this..I hope you have a wonderful and PEACEful Thanksgiving holiday...;0)

You can make stuffing separately, on stove-top or in oven.
The usual way is to stuff the bird before cooking it.
But you have to wash the inside cavities first,
& get the temperature high enough to kill any bacteria.
Use a meat thermometer!

stuffing in the bird ....dressing is cooked outside the bird...
cooking it in the bird if more flavorful but it must be cooked throughly....
