They are spineless. If they would include a phased roll back of the Bush tax cuts in the next bill to fund the war, a timetable for the war's end would start to look a lot better to the Republicans. If the Democrats had any guts, they would at least begin discussing the idea of putting the war on a pay-as-you-go basis. Instead, they keep passing off the entire cost of the war to the next generation by borrowing more money. This is immoral and cowardly, and it gives Bush exactly what he wants.
The U.S. government is drowning in debt. We have borrowed hundreds of billions of dollars from the Chinese and the Japanese; and hundreds of billions more from the Social Security Trust fund, every penny of which came from FICA taxes on workers wages that were earmarked for their retirement. Congress has no plan in place to pay it the money back when it is needed to pay benefits. - If we don't get the trade and budget deficits under control, the Chinese will end up owning us.
In 2012, the oldest baby boomers, those born in 1946, will reach full retirement age for purposes of social security. (that is, 66). President Bush has said that the Federal Budget will be balanced in 2012- but his math does not include the over 225 billion dollars that will be borrowed from the Social Security Trust that year, money that came from FICA taxes on workers' wages that is earmarked for their retirement. The only reason the government will be able to borrow that much money from the Social Security Trust fund that year, is that the baby boomers will be hitting their peak earning just before they retire. The Democratic response to the President's phony math has been absolute silence.
Part of Al Queda's strategy is to bankrupt us. - and it looks to me like Al Queda may be winning.

The problem is that the Republicans are divided. For the past while, we've had good conservatives like Ron Paul and Jim DeMint, and ones that were borderline democrat like John McCain (yes, borderline democrat - in fact, he almost switched parties. Wonder why he didn't do so well in the presidential election?) and Arlen Specter (who is now a democrat). The divisions in the Republican party, as well as the almost mafia-like unity of the Democratic party rendered the Republican party as a bunch of stupid people who did nothing but disagree with the democrats (because that's the only thing they could agree to do).

Democrats = Socialists
Republicans = Capitalists (war mongers since war builds economic futures for certain industries.)
The rest of the U.S. population = Fed up with politics as usual time for both the Dem's and The Rep's need to go the way of the Dinosaur.

I am more angry with the obstructionist republican'ts who would rather shoot a hole in the bottom of the boat than let anyone survive. Most Americans see right through this (70% anyway).
Those are the politicians who will be unemployed after the 08 election!

cmon they are doing a great job renaming post offices.
They lied to everyone to be elected, said they would stop the war.
once elected they realized they could not stop it. They would loose every election possible if they were to defund the war.
none of them have the stones to vote on it.
Bush is still out smarting all of them put together.
Rock on GW!
Mike...

No, just disappointed at their lack of ability to put forth good legislation. They have the most dismal performance record in US congressional history, all because of poor leadership and incompetance on the part of the party bigwigs. Most Democrat voters see through the smokescreen attempts to blame Congress' failure on the blocking effects of the Republican Administration. Good legislation gets passed. Bad legislation gets vetoed.

i'm proud of them seeing they try to get things done only for bush to veto the bills without even looking at it twice probably because it has to many big words in it.i think they have done better then republicans in the fact they challange the excutive branch instead of writing the president a blank check like cons did
