I think that is a good idea. That is what I did. If you don't know what you want to do don't waste your time and money going to school yet. Give yourself some time to figure out a plan. I took a couple years off and have been working full time and now I am enrolled in school again for networking. Good luck!

I think u should get done with ur basics first, even if u dont know what u want to do. I just graduated in 06' and a lot of my friends took some time off to work full time, and let me just say that is still what their doing. I dont agree that college is for everyone, but it is a fall back plan, its really good to have some education beyond high school on ur record. The job that u have wont last forever, and I'm sure I'll figure out what u want to do. Because a career is something u love, and a job is what u have to do. Find that thing u love a go for it, no matter how far fetch it seems.

Honestly, it's OK to not know where you want to go as soon as you leave H.S. I went to college right after and I was a mess because I had no clue with what direction I wanted to take my life. I had a job at a lawfirm making what I thought was good part time money ($10 an hour) and wanted to work there full time until I got my head on straight. Instead I stuck through school, realizing that many of the ppl there had no clue what they wanted to do either, and things worked out just fine. I will say this, college will give you so many ideas about what career path to take, just get in there and see what interests you, and if you choose to take some time off to see if college is really an option for you it's OK. College isn't for everyone but trust me, you are not the only one who feels this way.

Taking a year off from school and working full time just might not be a bad idea. You may be able to save up some good money for college. But I highly recommend not taking more than a year off. DEFINITELY make sure you get yourself in college. Some people SAY they'll end up going to school, but for whatever reason, they never end up going. And they regret it later.

Lots of people start college knowing exactly what they want to do, and change majors, and direction several times before they finish. I took time off between high school and college, it took me a long time to go back because I got used to not being in school. Not that what is right for one is right for all, but thought you might benefit from my negative experience. I think you should continue with school and get your general education out of the way up front, that leaves you plenty of time to decide.

That is a great idea to figure out what you want to do with your life. Just be sure to go back in a year and get your schooling taken care of. Not going to college right away gives you an opportunity to get money saved and get the partying out of your system.

If you are not sure about college then don't go . I regretted not going so that is something to think about . You could just take the summer off then see if you want to give college a try .

Go to college now, too many people mean to take just a little time off and end up getting sucked into a dead end job. Get the schooling over with and get paid well for your time!!!!

a general AA degree could be the answer. it will give you the ooportunity to explore and learn what you like best, and get most of the pre requirements done for anything you may choose to do later. lately it seems as if the associates degree is the appx = to a highschool diploma back in 1995.

Sounds like a plan to me. Take a little break from school, work full time while you decide where you want to go from here...and hopefully you WILL continue your education, so you don't have to work retail all your life.
