You said something that is very important. You mentioned affecting your life and scared to do things. I'm going to tell you something that will save you from years of heartache.
Don't wait any longer. Speak to your doctor and get a referral to someone who specializes in this. The reason is because you are in danger of developing agoraphobia. Believe me, it can drag on for years. Do something now, when it's all still "new" to you. If you develop agoraphobia, you will shut yourself from life.
I don't mean to scare you, so I will tell you that with therapy and/or medication, it is very treatable, but it will require you to do some hard work. In other words, you will have to face your fears, but with help and guidance.
If you're not open to drug therapy, you can still have cognitive behavioral therapy. There are also a couple of drug free programs that have been successful for thousands of people. Both these programs are by former sufferers. One is called Panic Away, the other is called The Linden Method. Check out the links and learn more and perhaps if this is the route you want to go, you may prefer one over the other. Good luck, but please, act soon so that you avoid years of suffering.

This may sound funny but you must learn how to breathe properly. Exhale all air and slowly inhale. Do this a couple of times. You will feel your body and mind loosen and a state of calm will come to you. Block out all but an ocean or the clouds. Nothing in this world is important. It does not matter if everything is gone. You are the only one that matters. This is your time. People can wait. Think back when you were very young and the best thing in the world was ice cream. Now stay in the moment. Do this when you finish school and at bed time. Take the time for you. Shhhhhhhh.

I have anxiety as well. All anxiety stems from fear. Sometimes just by writing or speaking about your fear will bring resolution. I've found that talk therapy has been very beneficial, as well as keeping a journal. I also practice yoga as often as I can, it helps me find inner peace.

Look for a therapist in your area, and meet with them regularly. They'll help you evaluate your situation and let you know if you should seek further assistance from a psychiatrist - who will then be able to prescribe you medication.

Good luck, and don't worry - there is hope on the horizon!

The first time I had an anxiety attack, I felt like I was having a heart attack - I even went to the emergency room. I was only 26 or so at the time. So, if you are having a full blown attach - trust me - you know it.

Slowing down and breathing deeply helps me if I feel one coming on. I also have medication from the dr. I can take if I feel like I am going to have one.

Check w/ your dr. S/he will be able to help!

Good luck.

Alot of poeple don't understand that most anxiety is coming from what we eat and drink. I for years would go to doctors and go to them but they didnt give me much advice about what I was consuming. So going for that candy bar, mt. dew and chips dont help at all with anxiety and I ended up staying at home until I did my own research.

So many of us go to our doctors only to be put on meds with too many side effects so I went to a natural doctor. She put me on adrenal support and st. johns wort. The adrenal was for my stressing over stupid stuff and taken things to personal.

I have been on supplements for about 4 mths now and I refuse to go back to the doctors. I have never felt better and I never thought I could have a calm cook collective about things going on in my life. I couldnt tell you how long it has been since I lost my temper or even let someone else get to me.

I would go to your doc and talk to him and it's possible that you're suffering from depression or an anxiety disorder. He'll probably recommend a spcialist, like a psychiatrist or therapist, and maybe put you on medication. I would also suggest learning progressive relaxation methods or learning to meditate, they're both good ways to relax without drugs!

xanax is very good for anxiety attacks but they are very addictive. tell your doctor to put you on these but he will probably only give you a 1 month supply because they are addicting. just take them when you feel like the anxiety is coming strong.
