I'm trying to build a moss wall in my aquarium. I have the suction cups, the small zip ties, and the moss already. The last thing I need is a plastic mesh. The DIY says it's available in many stores like Home Depot or Lowes. I've been to both and could only find a fiberglass or aluminum screen mesh, both are used for screen doors. I does not say on the package if it is non-toxic or not. I'm looking for the answers to the following questions.

Has anyone built a moss wall for their aquarium? If yes, where did you purchase your screen net?

Would a fiberglass screen be toxic to the fish?

I believe it's safe to use, but the holes are pretty small to let the moss grow through. I've seen plastic canvas (they type in craft departments) and larger mesh (like screen for gutters) used:

Some plastics are treated with fungicides or mold proofing, either of these will kill fish. The only sure way to tell is to set up a test tank and add an expendable fish. There's a certain amount of cruelty in this method, but is is the safest way for everyone but the "test fish".

Have you looked into a product called gutter guard? Home Depot, Lowes or places like that carries it. I use it in my marine tank to cover the top of my overflows and the rear of my canopy so none of my fish can jump out

I believe it would work just fine so long as you cleaned it before you use it. Wash it in distilled water that you add aquarium salt to.
