Down Syndrome individuals are less inhibited and honest in their expressions. They possess a true child-like quality that is innate to us when we are young. They express their feelings on a simplistic level happy, sad, fearful, and loved.

Lastly, persons with Down Syndrome generally do not have a firm concept of personal boundaries, depending on the functionality of the individual. Meaning they may run up to people and hug them etc., just because they feel like hugging.

But, truly they are untainted souls that are pure in their expressions.

That's a big stereotype of folks with Down's Syndrome. Such folks share the SAME emotions as the rest of us and there ARE many who are as you described BUT< there are others who are cranky, mischevious, hateful and decietful, just like in the general population. Some ARE very likeable and there are others that you will hate right off the get go. Please do NOT stereotype them all by the behaviors of a few. Stereotyping is WRONG, no matter what the stereotype is and WHO'S being stereotyped.

Because they are innocent beings. They have more unconditional love in their little finger, than most of us have in our whole body. It is a blessing to have such a child/person in ones life. They bring you so much joy to who ever is around them.
Take a look at the Mentally Disabled Olympics, it will give you a good weep and fill your heart with so much love.

I don't really know, and they aren't totally stupid either. I was working with some as a caregiver, and when we were driving to a park, and got lost, she said "STUPID!" which was quite funny. When we asked her what she was thinking she said "NOTHING". So she did surprise us because she could answer appropriately in some cases.
