Try working on you interviewing skills and beef up your resume. You should not be turned away because of your age...that is discrimination if you are more qualified than the other applicants. Try www.craigslist.com in your city. If all else fails get in contact with a temp agency in your area.

What is the job you want? Cant imagine that a maintenance man would not be able to find work either at an apartment complex or as a self employed handyman. Also if you have experience as a cook, many small restaurants would love to have you or you could work at a banquet center that does catering. At 53 you are experienced, not too old.

This is a good start! You're doing SOMETHING! You're not too old! You're experienced! I know it can be very disappointing to be rejected, but the right employer is out there for you, and you will find each other, sooner or later. Don't give up, post your CV wherever you can and the job you deserve will catch up with you. So what if it does take some time; use this time to teach yourself new skills and catch up with family and friends. Maybe they are best pals with your new boss??!?!

Best of luck!
