Don't know for 100%, but the apartments insurance should be the ones to replace the items or reimburse you for the costs.

The landlord must repair the damage to the apartment. The landlord is generally NOT liable to you for the damage to YOUR personal property, however, unless you can prove negligence on the part of the landlord.

I always required my tenants to get renters insurance as a lease condition. Those who did not risked the loss of their things if anything happened -- and it did on a couple of occasions. One tenant lost a lot of antiques when a sewer line collapsed and raw sewage backed up into the home. He had no insurance and my insurance refused to pay for the damage to his property. He sued unsuccessfully and had to pay my attorney's fee.

it is personal property not property of the apartment complex you would have had to have renters insurance and they will take care of it for you, (your insurance company) if you dont have renters insurance there is nothing you can do

This is why you get renters insurance.

The landlord is NOT responsible for personal items.

Hope this helps.

Not usually - you have to have separate renter's insurance to cover losses to possessions when you rent.
