I believe Ranto did not give me good advice. I asked about whether or not I should transfer from Michigan to Michigan State to complete my degree in Biochemistry and Taranto told me things like I should consider changing my major and that I would struggle where I go. Yet when I was able to pull up the exams for the first year courses for michigan and michigan state for physics, chem, and math I found out michigan state exams were much easier. Also my academic advisor told me that even if I finished at michigan state instead of michigan I still would have attended the 2nd best institution in michigan which would be impressive. She also said that it would look more appealing to have a 3.7 at michigan state than to get a only a 3.2 or less at university of michigan?

You get alot of people on here who give their opinions for answers, and don't really know what they're talking about. You just never know. You did the best thing by going to your advisor.

Your academic advisor is a fool. University of Michigan is a NATIONALLY recognized school, one of the best in the country if you believe those silly college rankings, while Michigan state is only a state recognized school. Stay at university of Michigan.

He didn't give you bad advice. He gave you his opinion. As did your academic advisor. It's up to you to take all that - everything you learn here, from your advisor, then do your own research, and then decide which choice is right FOR YOU.

People here volunteer, and give you advice based on their own knowledge and experience. They are humans. It's possible that he saw this issue through one set of eyes, and your advisor through another.

And I actually disagree with your advisor on a couple of her points. I actually think you'll have more opportunities with more elite employers with a 3.2 out of U Michigan Ann Arbor than you would with a 3.7 out of Michigan State - at least in terms of entry-level recruiting. Since U Michigan is an elite university in general, and top 10 in your field, it will attract more and different employers in terms of on-campus recruiting, internships and etc. Does that mean that you won't do well coming out of Michigan State? Of course not. But at Michigan State, some of those employers won't be coming to you - you'll have to go to them.

Will going to Michigan State keep you out of grad school? No. Will it prevent you from working for a fabulous employer? No. But might U Michigan give you an edge, with some employers? It may at that. But only if you get above a 3.0. In your other questions to this board, you implied that may not be possible. That'd be an issue.

In the end, it's your choice. You need to decide which school is the right fit for you, and go there. And only you can make that choice. We all can only offer informed opinions.

When you like a guy call him all of the time, every day and be sure to tell him you love him after a couple of weeks. Also be very jealous of every other women, even his sister and mom. Want some more??? Eat lots of pizza and drink beer every day. Call out to work and just stay home ordering pizza and drinking beer, do it for months and months. Never leave your house, just order it in, the beer too. Buy a bunch of stuff on credit. Everything that you have ever wanted you should buy, don't save for it though, just put it on your credit card that way you don't have to wait. The best piece of bad advice that I have to offer entails swimming in the ocean. Always make sure to tie pieces of dead bloody chicken scraps around your ankles, especially if you're surfing.

Have you thought about the possibility that your advisor wants you to go to another school because she just wants to get rid of you?

Do you go to her day after day asking the same question over & over like you do here?

I stand by my opinion that if you failed calculus, physics and chemistry at Michigan you are unlikely to get a 3.7 at those other Big Ten schools you are thinking about. Please prove me wrong.

But maybe you can turn things around. My advice is to spend more time on your studies and spend less time bad-mouthing people on the internet.
