Canadian volunteer firefighters, trying to assist American firefighters in extinguishing a blaze, are delayed at the border. Because we don't trust them? We don't want them to put their lives on the line for us? I think this is beyond insane, but for once, I am at a loss for words. I am sure that the Answers community can help me with this dictionary block.

There is no word for it. Some stupidity is just beyond words. If there is a word for it, its "stupid". How would you like to be someone near that fire and know that more help could have been there EIGHT MINUTES earlier? For a casual lunch date with an old school buddy an eight minute delay is OK. For a fire response call, its outrageous.

OK - the word is "outrageous", and there's a few thousand more that I probably can't say on broadcast television.

How about stupid or ridiculous or assinine...is that how it is spelled? You get my meaning, I'm sure.
Four words that come to mind when dealing with our government...par for the course.

What if those "Canadian fire fighters" were actually terrorists in disguise?

As for me, I'm not going to second guess the border guards since they have been trained for what they do and have a responsibility to carry out their orders.
