The salad bar has all this white lettuce (not green, white) that I don't want on my salad, and everytime I get a sandwich, the guy wants to put a handful of lettuce on it, even though I don't ever say the word "lettuce." Why are people constantly trying to feed me lettuce, when I don't like it and I'm just plain tired of looking at it?

Why is this question and its details so funny to me? Lol Anyway, I looooove lettuce, but I believe you're going to the wrong place (as in, not very good) for a salad bar, sweetie! I love a "salad" on my sandwich, so I get a little upset when I get one little wrinkled up limp leaf on them. You can always say, "No lettuce, please!" and definitely, DEFINITELY go somewhere else to get a real salad before you come to hate lettuce, altogether!

I love that crunchy white lettuce!! Especially with some mayo and lemon sauce, hmmm.. It is also a good source of calcium, fiber and vitamin C.

But..

The reason people are trying to feed you lettuce in restaurants is quite different :

1- It looks good on a plate or in a sandwich therefore ; presentation,

2- It is cheap and makes a good filling so the "expensive" ingredients can be used less therefore; budget. Not yours of course, theirs :P

I hate mangos and all patisseries have started putting mango pieces in fruit cakes. Yuck!

Lettuce is good. Salads are extra good. As for why, it must like Ipek said. Or, maybe listening to the customer and acting accordingly takes more energy, I don't know.
