Sometimes at my kids's school , certain people will speak to me in Spanish eventough I understand I refuse to answer them . I just feel that since I had to learn how to speak English why can't everyone else. I'm I being rude ?

No your not being rude, I do the same I work in a Real Estate office and when Spanish customers call I say I dont speak Spanish. I like them to try and when they do they are usually fine!! They are just insecure. I dont think we are being mean we are just letting them practice :) Im mexican btw haha.

Not being rude, I think it's great to let them practice, get the hang of it , gain confidence in it. If you go to thier countries they will not translate for you, yet they feel we as americans should translate for them.
