More than likey you would not even have know who he was. It's so sad that some small kid who won over a few hearts playing in Boston could steal the ROY award.

Delmon young had "93" rbi's playing for the last place Devil Rays. Could you imagine if this kid had played for New York or Boston?

It's not just the rbi's. Young numbers were better than Pedroia's across the board with the expection of ba.

The Sox were exposed more which really helped Pedroia big time.

There's no way you are going to convince me or try to sell to me that Young did not deserve ROY when he did.

NLM86? How in the hell was Pedroia a better overall player? Do you have anything to back that up with other than ba. and the fact he played for a high market team? Please. Like I said if Pedroia was on the D-Rays you would not know who he was.

Chipmaker? Please. I just threw the rbi's out there as an example. There have been polls held on here with just the stats of both players and Young won hands down. So spare me this long winded bs on the criteria of who gets to win the ROY.

Chipmaker? I see you listed all of the lame stats you could find. Well here are some that actualy "MATTER"

Young - 13 home runs
Pedroia - 8 home runs

Young - 186 hits
Pedroia - 165 hits

Young - 93 rbis
Pedroia - 50 rbiis

Young - 10 stolen bases
Pedroia - 7 stolen bases

Young - 162 games
Pedroia - 139 games

Pedroia has some intangable numbers
that looked good all because of who he had hitting "BEHIND" him. He got to see a lot of great pitches unlike Young.
Please spare me the bs!

Like I said twice. If Pedroia wa on the D-Rays you would not know who the hell he was.

That's it. Now the truth comes out. Let's give it to the little kid from Boston who stole our hearts. HA! Give me a break!
Young is the AL rookie of the year in my eyes and in the eyes of many other baseball fans as well.

No. It would have been Delmon's. I like Pedroia, but he does not really impress me. He is simply a banjo hitter with a somewhat high batting average. He is an improved version of David Eckstein.

First of all, Delmon young would be a jerk and should not be in baseball period. Secondly, Pedroia had a kick butt season and got his team to the playoffs. The guy could have been on the gosh darn Kansas City Royals and won Rookie of the Year, he was by far the best rookie in the american league.

As fun as Pedroia was to watch Delmon Young deserved the AL ROY award.

Chipmaker? In what way did Pedroia out perform Young?
His name was mentioned a lot because he was small guy that won some people over.

So you are saying that a guy who sets the table is less important than the guy who drives in the runs? Look at the stats again, Pedroia had a better season, he only really lost out to Young in RBI, he had a better avg, better OPS. They made the right call on that one.

no i dont think he could've won it with a small market team
yes i think delmon young should have won the ROY because his playing resulted in .98 runs per game (runs or rbi's) and dustin pedroia playing resulted in .96 runs per game. very close

Of course, nobody likes to say it but if your playing in Boston or New York or anyother big market area then your stock rises 10 fold even if your numbers are about the same as someone else or maybe even a little worse like delmon young as you stated, sports writers/sports stations (espn) get big hard ons for the boston and new york teams

Look at their 162 game averages, and Young didn't outperform Pedroia across any board.

You're forgetting one thing: anyone can put up numbers in front of 3,000 fans in Tampa - nobody cares about baseball there, no pressure at all.

It's a TAD bit different in Boston - pressure to perform every night.

no because he the rays did not have lots of runners on base and that means less RBIs for pedroia

I agree. This let's give it to the little caucasian kid on the popular team was way unfair.

Had Dustin Pedroia played 139 games for Tampa Bay there's no way in hell he win the AL ROY and everyone her knows that.
