Mercury in Greek and Roman mythology was the messenger of the gods. He is pictured as the guy with the winged shoes. Mercury or quicksilver is also liquid and flows easily and fast, so it also received that name on account of the speed and flow. The planet mercury is the closest one to the sun, and therefore has the shortest orbit period around the sun. It is also closest to the center of the solar system, as mercury was to the gods of olympus. A mercurial temper is one that changes very fast, yet another reference to speed.
Mercury has no satellite.

Mercury was named after the Roman god of messenging, the same as the Greek god Hermes. The reason was that the god Mercury could travel faster than anyone else, and Mercury moves faster than the other planets because it's closest to the sun.
Mercury has no moons as far as anyone knows.

Greek God Hermes (the messenger with winged feet). When the Latins adopted the Greek beliefs, the roman god Mercury got assimilated into Hermes (we use the Latine names for planets, but the stories behind them are from Greek mythology).
Zero satellites.

No moons and named after the Roman God Mercury.
I also thought it was fitting due to being used in thermometers to test the temperature and Mercury is nearest the sun
