it kills just about anything. We tested different cleaning products in my microbiology lab last semester and bleach killed the most bacteria and killed it the fastest.

Bleach kills germs. That's why you see a lot of it used in places that require clean or even sterile conditions.

it kills germs, in fact a nurse at a hospital one time told me that bleach kills germs and alcohol doesn't. So why do they use alcohol?

Both. It breaks down molecules in clothing that give it its color or tone. It is also a toxin to living things and thus kills microorganisms.

Avoid it when you can, use it sparingly when you must.
