My boyfriend and I are in the process of buying a mobile home and putting it on a piece of land that was giving to me by my Dad. Does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost to get the electric hooked up? The main powerlines are actually located on our property so therefore, it wont be very far to have to run a line and we also already have a pole (that was leftover from one of my Dads projects)...?

depends on what state your in, we had to put a weather head w/pipe and wires, on the pole, [light co supplyed pole]
for the meter to be mounted on [light co supplys it]
then you have to run wires to the trailer, no less than a # 6 wire,
so you talking around $200 or more,

The price will vary depending on where you are.

When you say the main powerlines, do you mean the high voltage transmission line, or a 'feeder' line.

If the former, they may have to run MILES to a proper tap point; but if the latter, they may be able to simply install a transformer.
(Have the same problem. Main 'TRANSMISSION' lines on property line. Based on cost estimate from the power company, I have been using on site generators for the last 8 years, replacing 1 every 2 years, (I have 2), and buying gas and I am STILL ahead by about $20,000 dollars!!!)

call the utility company and give them your address, they will give you the cost of installing the service feeder and the pole. You will have to get bids from electrical contractors for installing the service equipment and the feeders to the mobile home.
