Everytime I have my period, it's on a school day, and I end up light headed and cramping, sometimes I even throw up. I spend several hours in the nurses office, when I'm supposed to spend 15 minutes there. (THEY CALL IT THE SCHOOL CLINIC BUT NOONE TAKES CARE OF YOU,) I go to the school nurse every month. I was told several times to get back to class, but I was too sick 2 to go to the fifth floor, UP THE STAIRS. iT'S like noone shows you any sympathy. Anyways, I told my mom what the problem is and begged her for some birth control. She said no, so to avoid any problems, I came up with an Idea, to stay home when I'm on my period. I'm missing out on the pill (3 PERIODS A YEAR). It'd be so great if I shared a pill with someone.

Should I skip school when I'm on my period?

Don't skip school, just try taking some Midol. I understand the getting really sick part, but if you skipped school you would miss like at least 4 days of school every month.

Do you feel you need to be home the entire time? Or perhaps just the 1st day?

Are your grades good? Would you take a hit in this area if you missed a day or two a month?

You go to the school clinic, but have you been taken to the doctor? If there is a medical reason you are throwing up and getting lightheaded, a medical professional can help determine what that might be, and prescribe something to help. Or he might go ahead and give you a medical release.

Be sure to find out what, if any, restrictions there might be for someone your age who takes Seasonale (or one of the others). Also, if you go through with it, make sure you are aware of all of the things to avoid doing that could cause complications, and be aware of side effects.

If you have a medically necessary reason to miss school, and if your grades won't suffer (much), AND if it is only for a day or so...welll, then...maybe.

Wait and see what the doctor says. And read uall you can find about the birth control pills you are interested in, until you get a verdict.

Hope you start feeling better soon.
Hope I helped. God bless you.

Sure, then you can fall behind in school! Of course, you can't
"skip" school. When you grow up you won't be allowed to miss work every month. You'll have to get over it. Sorry, I have really hard cramps too. I can't stand up sometimes. I still have to walk 2 miles to get my son from school. Life doesn't stop even though you wish it would. And how do you share a pill with someone? If you split the pill in half it won't work. You need the whole pill not half.

shared a pill with someone? Not all pills will reduce your period to 3 a year, everyone is different.
Have you concidered Midol or something else that helps with your issues while you are on your period.
Skipping school is not an option just because you are on your period. What are you gonna do when you have to get a j-o-b-, your boss wont allow you to take 5-7 days a month off to cator to your monthly cycle. you got another 30 years of this darling, live with it.

I don't think you should share a pill with anyone because it could mess up their amount and give you something not right for you. When I get this, I take paracetamol and that helps. It's worse when it's cold out so dress warm. My Nan says to warm the pad before you put it on and that helps too. I know some girls get it very badly, my friend did and then others who don't so badly don't understand. If it's really bad could you tell the school nurse?

I know most people arent understanding when it comes to peroids. most people think your blowing it out of proportions, but sometimes the girls arent and they never take that into consideration. if your bleeding and cramping that bad something could even be wrong to be honest. you need to go see an obgyn. with or without your mothers help. you can grab the medical card and save up enough money to pay for the lil fee or co-pay they usually have(anywhere between $5-$25). it should say on the back of the card. if not ask them to bill you bc you just dont have the money right now. most places espically obgyn clinics understand that your mother was prob against you seeing a doctor about this. or go to a planned parenthood clinic. it is free and the pills are a lot cheaper than going to the pharm. so the insurance never has to get involved. but skipping school isnt the answer, it will only get you into tons and tons of trouble. not only from your mother but from school. inschools or detentions on your already bad period isnt going to help you. just flip open your phone book hun and start calling around. you can figure this out. everyone at these doctors offices will be more than willing to help you with this, not fight you. good luck ^_^

I'm really surprised that your mother is not willing to put you on birth control to help cope with these symptoms. Call a doctor and see what they suggest. Then try bringing it up to your mother again, she may change her mind when she has heard a doctor's point of view. Or go to a birth control website and get some fact, print them out and present them to her and see what she says. I had the same problem in high school only my mother did let me stay home when I had my monthly visitor. Best of luck to you!

No you should go to school and try to be mature about it. You are going to have periods for YEARS! You aren't going to be able to lay in bed for a few days each month for the rest of your life. If you really want the pill that will give you three periods go to planned parenthood and try to get it.

Fix the problem. Tell your mom that you think that you should be getting this sick and you want to see a doctor about it. She may just be scared that her little girl is making this up so she can go on the pill.

This isn't normal, but you really shouldn't skip school because of it.

Look, all girls know how you are feeling. Sadly, we have to suck it up and go to school. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms, he can may be able to give you some medication.

In the meantime, to make you feel better at school when you have your period, wear comfortable clothes, bring some iced tea or lemonade, pack your favorite lunch, and just hang out with your best friends. Good luck with your periods. = ]
