I am now 36 weeks pregnant and I felt my baby shaking or vibrating constantly for about 20 seconds.
It is NOT hiccups because I have experienced fetal hiccups and I have felt this shaking something very different and strange. It is also not the same as baby kicks nor punches because it feels like a seizure, reflex or something. I don’t know.

It was about 5am in the morning and the constant shaking woke me up. I felt it under my belly and I placed my hands deeply to really feel if it is the baby shaking and I can really feel that it's the baby shaking and it did not stop for about 20 seconds.

I talked about it with my doctor and midwife but I don't think they have heard the same thing with other pregnant women.

Has any pregnant women out there or who has experienced being pregnant ever experienced their unborn baby shake or vibrate constantly and for about 20 seconds or more?
If so, did your baby turn out fine?

I would really appreciate answers from any pregnant women.

This is my first pregnancy by the way. I am 20 years old and I am 36 weeks pregnant.
I have no fever and no stress. I believe my sugar and caffeine intake is very low and I don’t really know what causes these fetal vibrations.

I have experienced very active movements during the previous months that were also like vibrations for about 5 times already. But, they were only about 3 seconds and sometimes, when I hold it down, it stops shaking. These vibrations I believe are normal.

But this time, I tried to hold it down and it did not stop and it lasted for 20 seconds. It really worries me because it’s quite long and it didn’t stop even if I tried to hold it down. I just hope it's not a seizure or just hope it's just like a reflex but I just want to know if there are mothers out there who have experienced the same thing as this.

I know it feels really weird... i have 4 kids and with all 4 of my pregnancy's i felt the same thing... with my 4th child it actually happened when i was having a 4D ultrasound! Not to worry it was nothing but the baby wiggeling around... i was sooo freaked out when it happened everytime, i even asked the dr. to do some sort of tests to make sure my kids were ok....the dr. kept reassuring me it was normal but i couldn't help to think something was very wrong. Once i saw it with my own eyes i was happy to actually see that nothing was wrong at all... it was just a really weird feeling... so i would not worry. And yes all 4 of my kids were very healthy! Good luck!

I too am 31 weeks old an was really concerned about this shaking, it's a weird feeling so I thought I'd just check to see if other mothers have experienced this too and after reading all this I can now put my mind at ease that it may be a normal thing but will check with my doctor or midwife just to make sure everything is ok.

I experienced a similar feeling once or twice, but I don't think it lasted more than 10 seconds. I just figured it was her wiggling or as I call it 'dancing' around. If it continues to happen I'd talk to your doc again and perhaps push for an ultrasound or other test that could put your mind at ease, better to be safe than sorry! Pray about it, I'm sure he/she will be fine. God bless and best of luck!

I felt this same thing too with my first. I told my husband I was afraid she was having seizures. After she was born she did the same thing a few times in the first week of life, but it wasn't a seizure. I work with some kids have seizures so I knew it wasn't. My daughter is a healthy 2 year old, don't worry.
