I have never heard of the study but I have a similar study going on in my own home. My daughter used to weigh 167 LBS and was smart as a whip. She also never used to bump into things. She now weighs (9 mo. later) 101 LBS and she is a complete ditz. She bumps into things all the time. (you would think with less to maneuver, she would hit LESS) Her grades have gone down in School, and I hear... "but I didn't understand the homework" much more often than I used to.

Yep, Heavy people are most defiantly smarter.

EDIT: casey_leftwich oops!- Please refer to my personal study above.

I think there are enough obese idiots walking around as it is without handing them the notion that gaining even more weight makes 'em smarter. *I'm not saying all obese are idiots, just pointing out that being overweight doesn't make you clever Edit: yet again leper has provided such an insightful and intelliget answer. if the findings are true, i take it she is on the anorexic side of the spectrum. but to answer you additional info. That makes perfect sense, the only think I can think of that MIGHT affect a slimmer person is that they might not be eating enough, hence their bodies don't function as well as they should lowering their cognitive ability...though, that it is a pretty big generalisation I just made, Just a theory :) Edit: I know oracle, I was just thinking that it's a very handy excuse for people who are obese to not address their problem by simply quoting themselves as "curvy" and then insisting that they are smart because of it. i really should have made that clearer, sorry to jan if you thought i was having a go at you, i was having a go at the "findings"

Yes I have heard about this study but I do not think it is credible. So..if a woman lost a lot of weight and became "uncurvy" does that mean she'd get dumber? Or if an average woman became curvy, does that mean she'd get smarter? There are too many variables in this study in order for it to be completely valid.

That makes sense...I'm curvy, I'm intelligent. Apparently those scientists are, too.

Now I just wonder why guys always go for the idiot twigs.

Actually, no, I haven't heard that, but it probably has to do with men's notion that skinny girls are better, so curvy women have more time to devote themselves to studies and learning while the "pretty" girls go out and party - killing brain cells with alcohol.

Yes I have heard that and read it. I also think it is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard of. But I won't go into a rant about it on here. My husband and I already talked about it.

Does curvy mean fat? What if you're slender because you exercise daily, and you also exercise your brain daily? Why does this not apply to overweight men?

No, I did not know that. That is good to know, as I like curvy women.

I'd take "curvy" over stick-thin, waif types any day!
