(sigh) The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world. They predicted the end of one world AGE and the beginning of a new world age. They predicted world changes at the end of the pictun cycle, changes, not ends, and the end of the pictun cycle is in the year 4772.
21 December 2012 is an even date on their calendar. (13.0.0.0.0) It's also a day when our part of the milkyway enters a part of the milkyway that held importance to the Mayans. They planned the calendar far into the future, why not end it on an even date that just so happens to be in the time period of an astronomical even that holds importance to the Mayans?
Several large asteroids passes earth each year. I'm not worried about that either.
I live as if each day is my last. I'm more worried about dying from natural causes than from some sort of "doomsday prophesy".

in the experience that they could anticipate the destiny so properly, how come they did not foresee their extinction and do something to sidestep it? There have already been the kind of number of "doomsdays" that were anticipated by ability of meant prophets, yet they have come and lengthy gone with out incident (of route, except all of us neglected something). i do not trust the Mayans or each person has anticipated at the same time as the perfect days of the human race will come. Technically, it could be any day now. there's a lot of threats from our fellow guy (there are sufficient nuclear guns interior the international to kill the whole inhabitants better than once), there is the chance of organic and organic warfare, there is the chance of an asteroid hitting the earth...etc...etc. it would want to take position the following day, it would want to take position next twelve months, it would want to take position on 12-21-2012. no human being will understand for positive regardless of the reality that until eventually that day comes.

I've heard of it and I dont believe it. The end of the world has been predicted many times in the past and apparently they weren't correct either. But if it were true, I would drop out of school and go visit foreign countries and see the world.

With my family, with my friends, being the best person I can possibly be. If they were positive, I'd probably stop caring about school because I'll never really end up in "the real world' if it all ends in 2012.
