A power of attorney exists only so long as the person granting the POA lives. When the grantor dies, so does the power under the document.

POA's expire with the person who granted them. Only reason I can see for not allowing a person to attend a funeral is if it may cause an altercation.

No. Why would you want to do that anyway. The person is dead, so let people pay their respects. POA dies with them.
